Byzantium is wild land of picturesque landscapes and untamed wilderness. It is a harsh land, but one that provides for those who can survive it.
Artemoor, Goddess of the Hunt makes her home here, as do worthy spirits that embody the essence of the hunt. The core ideals that Artemoor holds as hunter are based around equilibrium and balance, tenets that are embodied in this plane. Hunters and prey live in synergy with eachother, with hunters holding respect for the prey and not over-indulging in the hunt. Meanwhile, the various herbivorous creatures facilitate the various flora ecosystems of Byzantium.
There are a variety of biomes in Byzanitum, ranging from forests to plains, mountainous regions to deserts, even a frigid arctic region (it's alignment with
Frostfell facilitating such a region). The plane holds many varied hunting grounds and survival challenges to stimulate the shades living out their afterlife, and the handful of beings that also choose to reside on this plane.
Points of Interest
The Foreal Plains
Wide open plains where flocks of wildbeast, deer and other animals migrate, almost creating highways through the region as they move to avoid predators.
The Te'moor Forests
A collection of differing forests, overseen by Artemoor as her favorite hunting terrain. The forests are divided up by the different trees that grow there, providing subtle differences to the terrain.
The Bemaan Peaks
A mountain range in the northeasterly area of Byzantium, this region is the favourite of flying beasts and home to a handful of Ancient dragons as well. The peaks also hide cave systems within, which are some of the most dangerous hunting grounds in the entire plane. These caves are also visited on occasion by
Lolth, Goddess of the Underdark.
The Kar Desert
A desolate region favoured by those wishing to test their endurance. There is little in the way of refuge, with only a handful of know oasis and safe points know.
Chillblain
The arctic region of Byzantium, existing from close proximity to the elemental plane of Frostfell. Artemoor allowed the boundaries between the planes to weaken somewhat to facilitate this area, relishing in the hunting and survival challenges it would provide. The weakened boundaries could a point of exploitation for interplanar traversal, however both Chillblain and Frostfell are so inhospitable that no-one has ever been able to take advantage of this.
