The Great Dragon War
The Great Dragon War began after the cataclysmic eruption of Mt Drakuul, it's cataclysmic destruction that hit the many villages that were settled near it. As its eruption began, the dragons emerged and flew across Voldaria; stealing, eating, and destroying whatever was in their path. But why did the dragons attack? Maybe something transpired before this great catastrophe.
Before its eruption, Mt. Drakuul and its ranges were homes to the dragons and the dwarves, who stayed far from their nests. One dragon, Tiamat, was envious of her brother Bahamut. His strong shining platinum build, his wise decisions and caring heart for his fellow dragons made him an easy leader to the dragons in the mountains. However, Tiamat had enough of being overshadowed, so she enticed the orcs in the north that if they killed him they would be promised more land and whatever resources available. She gave them the knowledge of Bahamuts weakspot, a soft spot in the back of his head, as they snuck in one night and assassinated him.
With the news of Bahamuts death, Io, the mother of Bahamut and Tiamat and elder of the dragons, knew something that Tiamat was not expecting in her plans. Io knew the ritual of resurrection. Io and the other dragons brought the body of Bahamut to the core of Mt. Drakuul and commenced the ritual. However, due to the dragons and Io's anger and despair of her Bahamuts death, the energy from their emotions corrupted the ritual.
Bahamut was revived, but he was not what he was before. His mind was more chaotic and animalistic. His unstable power emanated throughout the mountain and began making it stir initiating its eruption. The dragons blinded by the joy that their leader was reborn followed him in the attacks across Voldaria, not thinking of the mindless chaos they were wreaking.
The people of the land couldn't stand for their chaotic nature and eventually stood up and tried to fight back, though this fight wasn't on their side at first. After the lost of many more lives, a single elf Ace'ildan Highwind began to form an elite unit called the Dragoons. Teaming up with master smiths of the dwarves, they made the forging of the Dragoon Armor. The dragoons began having the upper hand and eventually pushed back the dragons.
The strongest of the dragons: Io, Tiamat, Leviathan, and Darthuum, and Bahamut (Ace'ildan striking the final blow) were sealed away. Their sealed locations are unknown and were never recorded for later history.
