The Weave

The Weave is a lattice of extraplanar energy created from the combined essence of The Broken Pantheon and reinforced by astonishingly powerful ritual spellwork. The weave acts as an arcane conduit, allowing mortals to command magic, as well as a barrier between the various planes of existence and The Aether.

Manifestation

When casting spells, mortals utilize the Weave as an arcane conduit to draw power from their soulfires and manifest that power as magic. Different types of magic affect the Weave differently, as well as the magnitude of the spell. It is for this reason that the Covenant of Seers has forbidden certain spells and schools of magic to prevent potential damage to the Weave. While a simple cantrip has a nigh-negligible effect on the Weave, intense reality warping spells can wreak havoc on the integrity of the Aetherial Barrier.

Localization

The Weave is weakest at the points of its binding-- the Stone Circles. Protected for generations by the Covenant of Seers, powerful enchantments protect the Circles from attack, vandalism, and erosion.
