Deep Dwarf
For centuries, the deep dwarves dwelt deep underground, hidden from sight and thought. They were enslaved by Illithid for multiple generations after digging deeper than any other dwarfs. Despite gaining their independence, these gloomy, ashen-skinned dwarves now have their own slaves and are just as despotic as their old rulers.
Deep dwarves are wiry and thin, with dark eyes and bald heads, and the men grow long, untidy gray beards. They are physically similar to ordinary dwarves in several respects.
Deep dwarves place a high emphasis on toil. In their society, showing emotions other than stern resolve or fury is frowned upon, although they can appear cheerful during work. They appreciate order, history, and exquisite workmanship in the way that other dwarves do, but their wares are strictly utilitarian, with no regard for aesthetic or artistic value.
Because they are a hidebound and distrustful species, few deep dwarves become adventurers, and even fewer venture to the surface world. Those who abandon the underground realm are usually exiles.
