Medusa

Medusae are powerful and fearsome beings with a deadly, petrifying gaze and innate sorcerous powers.
Medusae have heads full of writhing snakes, with each snake giving off a jewel-like glow and having a distinct magical ability. One might be able to create illusions, while another might be able to summon fire or ice. The medusa can control these snakes until their arcane energy is exhausted, using them to cast spells and attack their enemies.
Medusae tend to group in collections of at least three, but rarely more than ten. The females tend to be larger and stronger, but the males are more numerous. Groups of medusae are likely to have approximately a 2:1 ratio of males to females. Their lairs are often dark and eerie places, located deep within tangled forests. Caves hidden behind a waterfall are a particular favorite location for groups of medusae, and their innate arcane protections mean that only those with magical abilities can usually detect the hidden entrances. Inside, they prefer a lair with a series of twisting tunnels and chambers, each filled with the medusaes' treasures and magical artifacts. The air in a medusae lair is thick with the scent of musk, and many of the walls are likely covered in strange glyphs and symbols. In the center of the lair is the throne of the leader of the group, usually little more than a stone structure carved out of a larger rock.
