The Jail of Wood

In the woods outside of Varendicci the Jail of Wood is entered through the roof of a giant cave with one set of stairs leading to the bottom. It is known for its horrific torture pits, and consists of a series of corridors with very low ceilings. It is rumored that hidden inside the dungeon is the remnants of a long-lost hero. The cells inside the dungeon are decrepit; the walls are crumbling, and prisoners are kept in cells that accommodate up to four prisoners. Citizens of Varendicci are never jailed here and the jail is usually reserved for captured spies and agents of other city-states or even farther afield nations. Most citizens of Varendicci are aware of the jail and its general location, but not the exact location of the well-hidden entrance.
