The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is an immense underground city in the southeast of Fea and was reputedly where dwarves first evolved on Valine. Whether or not this is true, for centuries the dwarves carved out one of the wonders of Valine underneath the peaks of the south.
Thirty-five years ago, the dwarves were driven from their ancestral home after it was overrun with hordes of goblins from deeper underground. The goblins now hold The Sanctuary and though the dwarves  have several times tried to retake their city, the sheer number of goblins continually drive them back. The dwarves have now largely scattered throughout southern Fea and any hope that they might take back the city has faded from most dwarves hopes.
How The Sanctuary may have been changed under goblin control in the last three and a half decades is a matter that many dwarves wonder on. Many dwarves still remember the beauty of the place and as hope of winning it back faded, the older dwarves no longer even like to talk about it, as the memories are just too painful.
