Frozen Lightning

Found only in the Northern part of the worlds, and mostly amongst the possession of the Giant Kingdoms that reside their, it is a material that only occurs when certain conditions have been met. Supercharged electric energy that was encased in ice during one of the violent storms that occasionally batter the North, they are extremely valuable as they are able to be used for a variety of purposes. Though rare in when it occurs and being found, it still appears in Valnoagawa's larger population centers as Giants due occasionally trade it out of their communities.

Material Characteristics

Material does actually resemble a piece of a lightning bolt that has actually been encased in ice. It shimmers when light strikes the surface.

Physical & Chemical Properties

It discharges a small static shock when held and occasionally has small arcs of electric across the surface. The material is also extremely cold to touch and has a small aura of frost that does emanate from it in warmer climate. When used in weapons it is able to grant a variety of magical effects and impart a measure of the Lightning, Thunder, & Cold that makes up the material; it does so similarly for armors that are also imbued with the material. 

Geology & Geography

Found only in the Northern portion of the world in the mountains and frozen lands where the Giant Kingdoms reside. 

Origin & Source

Frozen lightning is only created when a large storm or electrical discharge occurs in the North during the coldest months of the year. During the discharge, the ozone around the it is quickly cooled and frozen by contact with the air and hardens to permafrost that does not seemingly melt.

History & Usage

Discovery

First discovered by the Giant Kingdoms in the early days of life in the North of the world, they quickly used of the larges amount for their own purposes and traded it the rest of the civilization they had trade with.

• Use in power magi-tech items due to contained energy exhausting very slowly
• Spell component for high tier magics

Cultural Significance and Usage

This material holds great importance of to the Giant Kingdoms as they use it nearly all of their weapons and armors. They have methods they have designed to allow for them to use in ways that many would find mind-boggling. Most other sentient races do not use it for purposes that the Giant Kingdoms are able to; instead the material is solely used for it applications on weapons and armors.

Found in its natural state that it needs to be used.

Hazards

When worked into enchantments of magical items it can discharge all the energy stored within if not handled carefully. If its use in enchantment is flawed or handled improperly, it discharges in a 15 foot area. All individuals present must make a DC18 Dexterity saving throw or suffer 8d8 Lightning Damage; half on a success.
