Training of Abilities, Feats, & Skill Proficiencies

Ability Training

Characters have the capacity to train to improve their Abilities without the need to use Ability Score Increases (ASI) that are gained when they level in a class. The character must first determine which stat they want to train and then be able to designate at least eight (8) hours per day towards this training; they must also be able to continue this training for at least three (3) days per week once they start in order to not lose progress. Every five (5) weeks, a character makes a check rolling percentile dice to determine the amount of progress that is made. This roll is repeated every five weeks after until they area able to reach the target of one hundred percent (100%). Once they reach a combined total of 100%, they are able to increase the stat by one (1) and training progress starts over at zero percent (0%).
Training is only able to improve an Ability up to a natural maximum of twenty (20) unless they have received some kind of enhancement that allows their attribute to go above 20. Each time a character improves an Ability through this method, they must spend an additional week in training before they are able to make a roll to determine their progress. A character is able to gain Advantage on the checks if they obtain the services of a Trainer that the character must spend the 8 hours with to gain the benefits; these services typically cost around 100 Gold Kratocracy Gilding, or equal favors/trades, as they are in high demand and also hard to find in certain areas.

Feats & Skill Proficiencies

Characters also have the capacity to learn new Feats and Skill Proficiencies without having to give up ASI's or Multiclassing to obtain access to other abilities. It takes roughly ten (10) weeks and five (5) hours per day in order to learn the Feat/Proficiency in total; a character does not lose progress if they are not able to spend any time that day in learning the new feat or proficiency. The timeframe is reduced by one week per Intelligence modifier that is possessed by the character, but does not take any longer if they have a negative modifier. Training either of these requires a teacher willing to teach and cost on average 50 Gold Kratocracy Gilding. Proficiencies can be trained multiple times increasing the bonus that the character receives from the trained skill. As the entity continues its training, it generally becomes progressively harder to find a trainer for skills and they tend to charge more the services they will be rendering. The time to train also grows as well requiring an additional five (5) weeks per level; this is dependent on the level of training they possessed or have gained through other sources. Example being a Rogue who starts with Expertise in several skills will only have to do the ten weeks and find an appropriate trainer to help them out. Below is the total range of training that a skill can benefit from.
Training Level Avg. Training Time DC (No Trainer) Gained Benefits
Untrained None None Ability Modifier Only
Proficient Ten Weeks 10 Add Proficiency Modifier
Expertise Fifteen Weeks 15 Add x2 Proficiency Modifier
Mastery Twenty Weeks 20 Add x3 Proficiency Modifier
*Note: A trainer is not always required and an individuals can attempt to gain a level on their own but it doubles the time required. It also requires a related Ability check every five weeks in order to achieve progress.

Languages & Tool Proficiencies

Languages and Artisan tools can also be learned over the course of ten weeks as long as they take the proper eight (8) hours a day for at least three (3) days per week. The smarter an character is, the easier it is for them to learn them and keep memorized for use. This training time is reduced a number of weeks by the Intelligence Modifier the character possesses, with a negative modifier not inhibiting or increase the time frame needed. Training cost roughly 25 Silver Kratocracy Gilding per week.
