Forsworn Lands

After the fall of the Raithar Empire, the leaders of the rebellion came to mutual agreement (for the most part) over how the empire's lands would be distributed among them. After much discussion and debate, the core of the empire, land too depleted by over-farming, war, and dragonfire to be of use to the new order and cities too steeped in Raitharan culture and history to be reborn, was declared off-limits. The founding leaders of every surrounding country entered into formal treaty in turn, agreeing to stand united against any who tried to claim that blighted territory. Thus, the forsworn lands were created.

Geography

Most of the territory consists of rolling hills and plains, with areas of flint hills and badlands as well. For a long time after the fall of Raithar, dust storms were common and rolled out of the forsworn lands like vengeful spirits. They are less common now, as grasses, shrubs, and trees take back hold of the soil, but there are still areas that are completely barren, and prone to blow away with the wind.

As this was once the heart of Raithar's empire, both geographically and politically, the terrain is spotted with countless ruins, from the outlined remains of single buildings, to the entire deserted city of Raitharis.

Fauna & Flora

Animals here consist mostly of those grazers and foragers that prosper anywhere--squirrels, rabbits, deer, and foxes. Packs of wild dogs now bear only cursory resemblance to the domestic species, and seemingly every kind of monster and lesser dragon. The few War Dragons to survive the rebellion should be extinct by now, without the empire to feed their incredible appetites, but since the appearance of one at the Battle of Arlickson's Field, there are those convinced there must be more.
