Highland Forest

Surrounding Caiir is the last microcosm of greenery in all of Karinga. The trees of the forest are sturdy and tall, but the canopy is the only green in all the forest. Since Caiir was constructed, its people have made meticulous journeys through Highland Forest to dredge up and clear the underbrush. While it has had a massive impact on the ecology of the forest, it was, according to Baron Olikan, a "necessary evil" to prevent the same fate as Ghoulwood.
Despite its uniquely barren floor, Highland Forest is heavily populated by animals. Though the herbivores among them have been driven to the furthest fringes of the forest, the carnivors have adapted to hunting one another. Extended stays in the forest are dangerous as finding food - and safety from the animals within - proves difficult for all but the most accomplished adventurers.
