Umra

The wealthiest city in Astagua, Umra is the paradoxical home to the brutish Orcs of the region. Having (mostly) traded in barbaric and violent ways for the nuanced lifestyle of aristocrats and diplomats, they hold themselves in high regard above anyone else in Astagua - even The Unified Council. Were it not for the growing threat of a second war with Vescania, Umra was certain to find other ways to sell Piercing Ore across Vals'kar and secede from Astagua.   Sitting on a carved, massive hill, it has white walls at the base which protect the white buildings within. It hardly fits in the pseudo-wasteland upon which it was built. Divided into three progressively-more wealthy districts, penetrating its walls and politics is as fool-hardy a venture as stepping foot unprepared into a dragon's lair.

Districts

Sirtinda

The least-but-still impressive district of Umra, Sirtinda encompasses the first couple of streets within its walls and begins the steep climb into Orta and Qoyma beyond. Equal parts extravagant and militant, its primary purpose and function is to provide protection to the inner districts. Though there are seldom pressing threats for which to design the city in such a way, it is an artifact of ancient tradition maintained by the Orcs. There is little to do besides train, gawk, and pass through no less than four gates on one's way into a significantly more functional part of the city.

Orta

Past Sirtinda and and a fifty-foot elevation gain lies Orta. Gaudy and condescending, the people within tend to look down on visitors who don't flaunt their wealth.   Frivolously spending one's money is the name of the game in Umra as a whole, but it's significantly worse in Orta. Somehow, the belief has been spread that demonstrating the possession of wealth, particularly by spending it, is a surefire way to attain more of it. Were it not for the omnipresent Umran Guard judiciously patrolling the streets, petty crime would certainly take off.   As it stands, the worst that occurs is cooking books, unfair business acquisitions, and predatory loaning.   Though there are many well-funded, extremely high-quality shops in Orta, without a doubt the most visited building is Glimpse Into the Past, a museum for questionably obtained relics of the first world.   Popular Services:
  • Carat Farm
  • Glimpse Into the Past
  • Agrozahr's Arcanum
  • Sageblades
  •

    Qoyma

The smallest, most well-protected, and richest portion of the city, Qoyma sits at the summit of the hill the city is built upon and stretches towards the sky. A massive white-marble castle overlooks the rest of the city as the home of the Viscount of Umra, His Majesty Xoruk Goldtooth.   The Marble Keep is a microcosm of the city, with stores, taverns, and entertainment in abundance. It's bowels contain an arena which pits fearsome creatures against valiant warriors, and beside it, overlooking the Eastern Pines, is a racetrack. Visitation is reserved for the wealthiest caste in Vals'kar and, rarely, members of The Unified Council.   As a general rule, the other members of the Council detest going to Umra because of their celebration and use of slavery.
