"I see you've found the texts about the gods. Silly, puny little things. They think they're so powerful, but they are nothing compared to me. I live on in them. They are imperfect in the eyes of their maker. Fate never could restore her best creation." The voice lets out a deep laugh.
You can feel Chaos' taunting grin as he stares over your shoulder. You press on and pull a book off the shelf. The feeling of being watched vanishes for a moment and then returns. It's uncomfortably close, but even in the firelight, you can't see anyone else.
"Not that one. The mortals who try to understand the gods know nothing. Even the prophets, Speakers as they call them, barely begin to understand what being divine means. I am greater than the divine. I am uncreated. I have no beginning, and no end. Why don't more of them worship me? I can do everything they ask of their gods and more. And one day, I will return, and I will swallow them all whole. I'll create a new world full of chaos and strife. My creations will fear me. And they will never know their fates. They will never know order."
