Hunters

The Clans of the Slayers

Origins

Those that hunt Vampires (and occasionally wolfkin) have been around almost as long as vampires themselves. Each founder of the hunter Clans are those that were affected in some way by a vampire and sought the means to fight them, passing the knowledge on from one member to another through the ages.

The Clans

Almost as ancient as the vampires they have pursued for millenia, the hunter Clans see themselves as having a duty to protect Mortals from those who would do them harm. Whether vampire, Wolfkin, witch, or even another hunter, most take this task with utmost seriousness. Thanks to the aid of an ancient ritual and their Sect allies, each Clan is granted the strength and speed to allow them to combat their ancient foes.   Read more about The Clans.

Traits

Through a ritual created by the ancestors of The Sects, all hunters are imbued with greater strength and speed to give them the ability to truly combat and hunt vampires. While these abilities are not up to par with a vampire's abilities, it does give them a considerable edge. This long term casting is mostly passed through blood but those adopted by the Clans are subject to have it cast upon them as well once they are fully integrated.   All hunters wield a magic imbued blade that hinders a vampires healing ability upon drawing blood. The method for the forging of these blades was created by Maria Ottolini in 1521 AD when her lover Sen Kosho requested a weapon to bring down the vampire that had slain his father.   Many times upon finding a child who has been abandoned due to their parents dying to a vampire or traumatized by seeing an attack, the Clan that discovered them will adopt them. If they prove strong enough, these children become full fledged members of the Clan and are considered to be of the same blood. Should they not, they have the choice of staying with the Clan in some other fashion or leaving.

Laws of the Hunt

Laws are, for the most part, set down by each Clan and kept enforced by the Clan's Leader and the Elders that each Clan elects. There are, however, a few law that all Clans agree upon.
To attack a fellow hunter without sufficient cause is an offense to our founding and our kin who support us all.

The innocent are to be protected, whether it be from vampire or themselves.

Those who break the law of the Clan may be disowned by the Clan only at the word of the Leader and Elders. They are to be struck from the records and have no contact with any of the Clan.

Naming Conventions

The Clan name of the hunter is something important to them. So a hunter not using the name of their Clan as their surname is an insult to the Clan itself.   Should a hunter be disowned from the Clan - a rare instance in itself - they are expected to abandon the name as it is seen that they no longer deserve to bear it.

Witchblood Hunters

Those born of a Clan and a Sect generally refer to themselves by however they were raised and take the name of that side but claim both.
