Arcanum Eldar
The Arcanum, as it is more commonly known, is the centre of magical learning on Vandariel. Home to the Elders, an incomprehensible hierarchy of mages who seek to further the world's knowledge of magic. An imposing grey stone complex on the top layer of the town, the Arcanum proper is open to all, being the central circular tower where lessons are sporadically held in the open air auditorium. Other buildings are loosely grouped by the type of magic practised within, like spokes on a wheel from the central building. Each school of magic has a “head”, who forms part of the group's leadership council. From south-west to south-east, they are as follows;
Arcanum Abjurer – school of abjuration led by Ellen Sage, a Sagefolk woman. The building is shaped similarly to a religious building, elegant pillars and light stone.
Arcanum Conjurer – school of conjuration led by Belledina Destros, a tall and imposing elven woman who was one of the Pilgrims, a group of heroes who saved the world 100 years ago. This building appears similar to a regular home, and is much bigger on the inside.
Arcanum Diviner – the divination school, led by Fordeni Sinstral, an elven man who is forever hidden in a shroud. The building itself is small, and filled with lots of tiny rooms draped in fabrics and curtains.
Arcanum Enchanter – enchantment school, led by Odellus Argon, an eccentric dwarf with silver hair and a neat, trimmed beard.
Arcanum Illusionist – the school of illusion, led by Goden Falle, a gaunt human man who looks like a walking cadaver. The exterior of the building seems to shift and change periodically.
Arcanum Necromancer – Led by So'fess Zolus, an enigmatic Zolus man who rarely speaks. Entry is allowed only by permission of So'fess himself.
Arcanum Transmuter – Led by Minerva Roel, a tiefling woman with red skin and black hair, the transmutation school is very popular and has a party atmosphere.
