Boulderrest

Boulderrest is a settlement of Hill Dwarves built around a large boulder in the Sprawling Bushveld. It's said that this boulder broke off from the Abraska mountains and rolled down. It kept rolling until it finally came to rest where it is now, hence the name of the town.
In recent years, the boulder has been determined to be extraterrestrial in origin. When this meteorite fell thousands of years ago, it scattered pieces all throughout the region. This space mineral, known as Nethecite, is very valuable to wizards, as is can be used in place of any material component in spellcasting, and has recently begun to be used to power strange machines.
In light of this discovery, people have begun to flock from all over to scavenge for and mine the rare metal. The Pinnacle Excavation Corporation in particular has made a small fortune in the mining business. The dwarves, however, revere the boulder itself, and forbid anyone from mining the source rock. They consider themselves defenders of the sacred stone.
