The Three Sword Arts of Shinto

Form I: Iari

Iari was invented by the founder of Shinto Sword Arts, Daigo Sakutaro and Iaris Cristine as a non-lethal form of combat, utilizing hand to hand combat and the blunt edges and parts of a weapon to subdue the aggressor. Students learning Iari are still taught to use weapons to kill if necessary but ultimately encouraged to keep the peace wherever possible.

Form II: Io

Io was created by Iori Isono. Iori spent a couple of decades perfecting the form and passed it down to Aoi Kane, the sensei at the time. Io is a combat form for fighters, relying heavily on lethal strikes and defending yourself. Io is the most versatile of the 3 forms mainly because students learning it will be taught it in 2 sections.
The first section is dedicated to defensive forms and sword handling, aiming to teach the students how to defend themselves in a fight. The second section teaches how to go on the offensive and keep the pressure applied. The defensive form is taught more as a last resort and students are encouraged to always be on the offensive.
Mastery of Io means that during a fight, you never fall into the defensive stance, and students can only be recognized as a master if they can prove that fact.

Form III: Ta-Kae

Ta-Kae is a fighting form that is the hardest to master because of how situational it is. Developed by Taketa Kae and passed down to the Dojo, it relies on you taking control of your opponent and using your stance as an intimidation tactic. Ta-Kae teaches students to focus more on hand to hand combat and using a weapon to get the edge over their opponent.
Mastery of Ta-Kae is very difficult because you have to rely on your inner strength and put your opponent in a position that's not even worth fighting to get out of.
