Great Golden Desert

The Great Golden Desert is a sprawling arid desert in the southwestern region of Värien. It is home to the nomadic Tieflings and the Leonin.

Geography

A massive desert with a variety of warm arid biomes, including sand dunes, scrubland, and dry grasslands. The Shimmer River passes through the western end of the Great Golden Desert, including the Lake of Gold.

Natural Resources

The desert gets its name from both the color of the sand and the presence of large, scattered gold deposits from a meteor of pure gold sent by Vidhrheimr that struck the desert in the Age of Creation. Some Tiefling nomads, displaced by the destruction of Al Dhahab, specialize in finding gold beneath the desert sands.

History

The Lake of Gold appeared when the City of Al Dhahab was flooded, inundating the city.
