Balmer Gordun

Balmer Gordun was born and raised in Stonehelm, the only child of a family of alchemists. He inherited his parents' curiosity and love for experimentation, and spent most of his life studying and practicing alchemy. He became well-known in the city for his expertise, and often served as a consultant to various organizations, including the Cartographer's Guild.   Despite his achievements, Balmer felt unfulfilled and yearned for more excitement in his life. He began dabbling in illegal activities, such as producing and selling illegal alchemical substances to various criminal groups in the city. His reputation as a skilled alchemist made him a valuable asset to these organizations, and he quickly rose up the ranks to become a trusted advisor and confidant to many of them.   However, Balmer's luck eventually ran out. One of his illegal experiments went awry and caused an explosion in his laboratory, which attracted the attention of the authorities. He was arrested and faced a lengthy prison sentence, but the poachers managed to bribe the guards and secure his release. In return, Balmer agreed to work for them as an advisor and alchemist.   Balmer is a shrewd and cunning individual, with a dry sense of humor and a tendency to speak his mind. He is fiercely independent and does not take orders well, preferring to work behind the scenes and provide advice from a distance. He is deeply loyal to Tomves, whom he sees as a kindred spirit, and will do whatever it takes to ensure the poachers' success.

Goals
To help the poachers succeed and maintain their position of power in Stonehelm, to continue experimenting with alchemy and push its boundaries, and to avoid getting caught by the authorities again.
Flaws
Can be stubborn and difficult to work with, tends to prioritize his own interests over others, and has a tendency to take risks without considering the consequences.
Bonds
Is deeply loyal to Tomves and the poachers, feels indebted to them for securing his release from prison.

Guild Interactions

The Cartographers (Felix, Gnaa, & Pitter-Patter) were introduced to Balmer by Tomves Rimvera while they were infiltrating the Stonehelm Poacher Base in Expedition 13a - Slumming it up in the Big City and he had a Strange Metal Dog following him around. After Tomves Rimvera launched himself at Felix in a fury, he akwardly threw some fire bombs at the party before hobbling away up the stairs.
