Irrel
Half Elf Ranger Druid
Irréluin Galathâin (a.k.a. Irrel)
Irrel was raised in the coastal caves of Morinénor, the largest of which sheltered their home village of sea elves. Though their kin kept to themselves, Irrel inherited the wanderlust of their mother, long since sailed away, and would roam the farthest of all their tribesmen on each day's hunt. Land-Seal, Irrel was called, and the clan marveled at Irrel's tales and catches.
One day, two strangers came bearing arms (a Farrosh named Qat-Haffr, and a Chiton known as Nkitl). Irrel repelled them with the sea's own tempest. Impressed, the two warriors offered Irrel friendship and adventure. Irrel vowed to return to Morinénor with the greatest of epic tales.
Years passed, as Irrel trained under the Graveshepherds, a band of rangers and druids who revered the fungi and shadow of the natural world. The Shepherds taught Irrel their ways, bonding with and controlling shadow and spore. When the time came for for Irrel's first hunt, the Graveshepherds underestimated their quarry. As the tentacled mass of The Drowned One tore apart all but Irrel, they ran in madness, clutching what parts of his best friends, Qat-Haffr and Nkitl, the damned fish would spare. Its silent laughing has lingered in their mind ever since, and the blank stare of its harbinger, The One with the Many-Eyed Mask, has haunted Irrel's every dream.
For ninety nine years Irrel lived amongst the common folk, healing them, guarding their livestock. They played the village witch, studying the lore of everything, anything; they vowed never be unprepared again. But the Many-Eyed Mask found them still, unsatisfied leaving the last of the Graveshepherds alive, and burned down all Irrel had come to call home. Watching the smoke rise behind them, Irrel decided they’d had enough. They were ready. Irrel would hunt again.
