Personal history

Bernan was born in the year 52 to Sampson and Martha Lorcáin, two nobles of high standing in Beckinsdale. Much of his upbringing was characterised by the events of the War of the Pheonix, though the wealth of his parents allowed him a higher quality of life compared to an average child, including being provided with a fine education. Fortunately for him, Beckinsdale was able to stay distant from the majority of the war, as the Empire of Flames had little reason to take over the town — it had minimal strategic importance and its small size at the time would net few resources if taken over. As such he witnessed little of the war thoughout his childhood.   When Bernan was nineteen years old he enlisted in the Arthurian army to combat the Empire of Flames in Meletar. He fought throughout the nation and took part in the infamous final battle of the war at ___ Valley. After spending five years in the army Bernan left and turned to a life of politics. Having learned much from his parents, Bernan began to get involved in the local politics of the area, and over time gained a strong reputation.   After a mere six years of being involved in politics, Bernan was given the title of Lord when he inherited the land his parents owned upon their deaths. This gave him a greater number of responsibilites, particularly managing the upkeep of his land and being accountable for the workers now under his employment. On top of this, his duties of Lord requried him to take a greater interest in the local community and the local economy. His political expertise and exemplary education allowed him to develop a keen understanding of how to make significant contributions to the local area. He invested a significant sum of his wealth into Beckinsdale, and developed a charitable reputation.    His benefaction in Beckinsdale made him a prime candidate for town mayor during an election in the year 82, however he lost to another candidate, Geoffrey Gridehog. In the year 85, he resolved a conflict between the lower peerage and the wealthy nobility, as the lower peerage were requried to pay an unfairly high land tax for the small amounts of land they owned and likely made minimal profit from. Bernan advocated for the implementation of a minimum area of land requried for this tax to come into effect, thus resolving the dispute.
