Genasi

The Genasi, also known as the Children of the Elements, are a semi recent development within the world of Vel'kora. Predominantly found in Koria, they have started to be found in mots other places in the world since the events of The Sunder.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Genasi are all typically humanoid in shape, with some small variation in physical appearance and abilities depending on sub-race.

Genetics and Reproduction

Genasi can reproduce with any other humanoid species.   Typically the offspring of a Genasi/Humanoid coupling results in a Genasi child, but there is a small chance that the child will be born of the same race as the other parent. Interestingly, it is possible for a Genasi to be born with both parents being of another racial descent. If a woman is exposed to enough magical energy of a specific elemental type during the pregnancy, the child will become Genasi during the gestation period.

Growth Rate & Stages

Genasi growth tends to occur at what ever the standard rate their parent species does. For example, if the parents are Elves, the Genasi child will likely mature at the same rate an Elen child would, and live to be around 500 years old. A human couple however, would see a Genasi child reach maturity around 17, and live to be around 130.   They are typically more long lived than Humans, but shorter lived than Elves.
