Hagspawn
Fey-touched and hollow.
Do I love my son? What mother doesn't? But he still deserves death, for he is a reminder of our curse, and the cruelty of Elves. ~ Auntie Kethel, Sea Hag, Koria.
I was left on a rock to be fed to the birds by my mother. I survived. I was condemned to die by my fathers people for being what I am. I survived. I was bound to this place to die a hundred years prior, and yet here I remain. Why should you worry me in the slightest? ~ Tharn, Blessed Hagspawn.Hagspawn are the male spawn of Hags and other species. They are usually universally despised both by their Hag mothers, and the parent species of their father, being considered a tormenting reminder of the trauma their father endured, and a physical representation to Hags of the curse they bare from The Conflict of the Fey. They are split into three different sub-types, Harrowborn, Blessed, and Dreamborn.
Harrowborn
The Harrowborn make up most of the Hagspawn one would encounter within the world. Due to their vile and misshapen look, they are often mistaken for a Troll. Those who do are often surprised due to the Harrowborns ability to talk, as well as their extreme strength, coupled often with a simple mind and child-like demeanor. Harrowborn are most often found with their mother, acting as her protector and bodyguard, though some do survive in the wild till adulthood, or are taken in by bandit troupes do be used as muscle.Blessed
Blessed Hagspawn are much rarer than their huge brothers. A more fair lot, Blessed are somewhat weaker than Harrowborn, but make up for it with charm and whit to help them ease through tough situations. They tend to take strongly after their father in both height and build, sharing only the skin and hair color of their mother. Blessed are almost never found in the company of Hags, often hating their mother and all Hags for the evil they inflicted upon their father, and can instead be found in populated cities of their fathers kin. Blessed are very outgoing and often seek the approval of their fathers race in an attempt to distance themselves from their Hag mothers further. They are often met with some distrust, as their skin marks them for what they are to any that know the truth, and this can lead several Blessed to follow a darker path, weaving lies and slipping in and out of society as they see fit.Dreamborn
Dreamborn Hagspawn are the most rare and misunderstood of all. Much like Blessed, they take strongly after their fathers race, but remain strongly attached to their mothers ritualistic magics that were used to create them, allowing them innate access to certain cantrips. Most strangely, they also possess the unusual ability to phase completely from the Material Plane and enter the Ethereal Plane for a short period of time, twice per day. This access to the Ethereal Plane has a strong affect on the Dreamborn, leaving them physically and mentally enhanced, but weaker in constitutional health due to a lack of connection to the physical world. Dreamborn most of all shun the world around them, often living as hermits or sages, secluded in remote places of the world, where their lineage is either ignored, or mistrusted enough to keep unwanted guests away. They spend a tremendous amount of time in self reflection, as well as a study of the world around them. When encountered in the world, Dreamborn often prefer to be left alone rather than engage, and only venture out from their seclusion only when they have great personal need.Basic Information

Gift of the Mother
Each Hagspwan inherits a specific set of abilities and a skin tone from its Hag mother. The abilities depend on the type of Hag and are as follows:
Sea Hagborn: You move in the water as well as on land, and can breath underwater. Your skin is tinged green.
Night Hagborn: You gain the ability to cast the Disguise Self spell without components once per lost rest. Your skin is tinged dark purple.
Red Hagborn: You gain the ability to siphon the life from your enemies once per day, dealing 2d6 necrotic damage to all enemies around you in a 10 ft radius. Your skin is tinged red.
Annis Hagborn: Your fingernails and teeth are long, sharp and black, you can use the Bite and Claw actions as attacks, both dealing 1d6 + your Strength modifier. Your skin is an iron gray.
Bheur Hagborn: You are immune to Cold damage. You gain the ability to walk up along icy surfaces as if they were flat terrain, and can move through rough terrain made of snow and ice without spending extra movement. Your skin is pale milk white.
I really like the variations! Is this all homebrew or drawn from another source? Is there anything which determines, lore wise, which they are born as, or is it entirely random?
It's entirely homebrew. The type is entirely random due to the curse placed on Hags early in the time as a race, but I'm still writing that info out.
Very cool! Is there a way a player can push to play one of the particular type, such as an initial experience deficit or something?
I mean, it would be to the DM's choice. I just chose the system to help show how singularly rare the latter two are.
