The Shattered Shelf

All that remains of the northwestern continent is a spattering of islands and pillars known to all as The Shattered Shelf. Few wish to live so close to the pull of the Maelstrom and beyond the islands any boats are at the mercy of its current. Though to travel between the islands is to tempt fate for smugglers and pirates ply their trade here, targeting any that pass too close to the hundreds of coves and caves that hide their hidden bases. Though they are not the only thing to fear, for deep beneath the waters lie the ruins of great cities and buildings, amongst which long lost treasures and artefacts rest, watched over by unworldly monsters and creatures that have claimed them as their own. Some seek their wealth in ‘freeing’ the artefacts from those that slumber beneath the deep blue waters, though few return and those that do are not the same.

Stormheld Bastion

Some semblance of order still remains within The Shattered Shelf, enforced by the Stormheld Bastion, a collective of clans spread across the islands. Always at war with the nation of Yeshi in the north and eager to maintain their freedom from their former slaveowners. The denizens of the Stormheld Bastion raid and fight their neighbours to the north at every possible opportunity, attempting to bleed them enough to give up their claim of dominion over the Shattered Shelf. When those of the Stormheld Bastion have time away from battle they love to compete with ever increasing displays of speed, strength, bravery and magic. Whether that includes racing through The Rage of Castellian, stealing wealth from enemies or circumventing the Maelstrom itself.

The Rage of Castellian

This is what the denizens of Stormheld Bastion call the magical storms that spiral outwards from the Maelstrom. The Rage of Castellian is in reference to the first Primarch of the Stormriders, Castellian Harlscurl.
