Voice of Tiamat
The highest rank in Sousa, the leader of the government and the Draconic Church, and the one who speaks with Tiamat's voice. The Voice of Tiamat is a hereditary title given to the family of half-dragons who were spawned by Tiamat to watch over her mortal kingdom for her.
Responsibilities
The ruler of Nahyz does so in service to the ancient dragons, the Chromatic Convocation , and above all, to Tiamat. They must ensure that a portion of the money gathered and generated throughout the country be given to the dragons, as a sign of the worship the mortals of Nahyz give the legendary dragons that roam the mountains south of them. The Voice must also care for their subjects, all of them; they own the land and they distribute the grain and food grown on it throughout the land. They operate the mines and command the smiths, they control the armies and the artisans alike, and they must ensure that the country is strong and all people are taken care of.
Benefits
The Voice of Tiamat owns all the land in Nahyz. All taxes and tithes flow to them. They control where landmarks and temples are built, and they can construct as many palaces or pleasure homes as they want. They govern the lands and the orders issued from their throne echoes through the markets and halls of every city in Nahyz.
Accoutrements & Equipment
- The Flail of Tiamat - See Fizban's
- The Cloak of Many Scales - A cloak made from the dragon scales of all the ancient dragons who were part of the original treaty between Nahyz and the dragons. There is also a multi-coloured scale from Tiamat in the center.
- The Chromatic Claws - A set of claw weapons fashioned like dragons claws. They are made of adamantine, and they can change colour depending on the type of damage they do, correlating to the types of damage inherent to the various chromatic dragons.
- The Biting Tongue - A whip that can cast command spells once per day. It is a shimmering weapon and its colours range between all the chromatic colours, shifting between the five, up and down the whip constantly. It is an ancient relic that was crafted for the second Voice and has been passed down ever since.
History
The Voice of Tiamat was made when Nahyz was first created. As the dragon fire ceased, and the country settled along the river, it did so by the grace and at the command of Tiamat. While she remained in Hell, her commands were given in her stead by her son, Lahmu, who ruled over the mortals in the same way Tiamat's other children ruled over the dragons. It is his blood, the blood of Tiamat, that runs through the veins of all Voices, past and present, as they fulfill their sacred duty of speaking the commands of Tiamat.
