Grand Temple of Pindaiba
The Grand Temple of Pindaiba is the main religious building of the Pindaiba Sacred District. It is one of the largest Grand Temples of Holy Order of the Divine Children of Our Mother Deity in Floresfada, housing 24 Acolytes and 30 students in 1995.
Grand Temples are the centre of religious life in any fairy district. The weekly blessings of the High Priest(ess/er) happen within its courtyard, with fairies (and some non-fairies) travelling great distances to experience this ritual of communion with their Mother Deity.
Architecture
The Grand Temple of Pindaiba is built in the same style as all grand temples in the world. The main place of worship is located in a central courtyard marked by a circle of trees. In the centre of the circle lies a stone altar surrounded by eternally-blooming flowers (flowers are one of the symbols of the Mother Deity). At the start of each religious ceremony, the High Priest(ess/er) calls for the Mother Deity's presence. They answer by making luscious green vines grow around the altar.
Outside the circle of trees are scattered smaller buildings that serve as libraries, dorms and kitchen/dining hall for the Acolytes and students living within the Grand Temple's boundaries. Fairies strive to spend as much time outside as possible, and each building is usually surrounded by colourful gardens of blooming, fragrant flowers. The residents are also expected to plant a large amount of their own food, though the local fairies are always happy to donate to their food supply.
History
The Grand Temple of Pindaiba was build in 1747 to celebrate the region being granted its own district status. It started as a small gathering of a High Priester (who was not local, but sent from a different continent instead), 3 Acolytes and 2 students. However, it grew with Pindaiba until it became a respected religious centre.
