Dwarf

The dwarves of Verdun are a humanoid race of stoic warriors and craftspeople with deep rooted traditions. They have developed great subterranean citadels and mountaintop fortresses throughout Askalda, where they stow away in their defensive positions. Taller races sometimes refer to dwarves as stouts, although they find this extremely offensive.

Description

Dwarves are easily recognized by their short short stature and sturdy build. Most dwarves range from 4'0"-4'8" in height. What dwarves lack in height they make up for in bulk; they are, on average, about as heavy as humans. A dwarf can weigh anywhere from about 160–220 lbs (73–100 kg). Dwarven males are a bit taller and heavier than their female counterparts. Like humans, dwarves have a wide variety of skin, eye, and hair colors, typically pale among Rundak dwarves and deeply tanned or brown amongst Skiath and Krazuk dwarves. Hazel eyes are common throughout the race, with blue eyes more common amongst Rundak dwarves and brown or green eyes found amongst the Skiath and Krazuk dwarves.

Krazuk

Located in Cairndubh. The Krazuk are legendary miners and smiths, renowned for steel and adamantine productions.

Skiathane

Located in Cairnglas. The Skiathane are an ancient people revered for their gryphon riders. Their mountaintop fortresses double as rookeries.

Rundak

Located in Cairnban. The Rundak are the oldest of the dwarven civilizations. They rarely leave their deep subterranean holds, focusing instead on their study of the arcane.
