Spellstone of Sagaria

The Spellstone of Sagaria was the second Spellstone to be found by a mortal. It is an ancient artifact left by the gods and grants incredible powers.

History

The Spellstone of Sagaria was first discovered by the Akotian orphan, Rohana, who was fleeing the Flamescale Empire. When she touched the stone, she imbued with immense power and ascended as a demi-god, becoming the second after Ithyriel. With her new power, she was able to defeat her pursuers and amass an army of survivers and defeat the Flamescale Empire and their leader, Kandakul.
The City of Splendor, Sagaria, was built by Rohana around the Spellstone so that she could protect it and create a utopia with her new powers. It remained in Sagaria until Halivar, the first Tiefling and liaison for Abaddon stole it and fled to the Black City, forming the Shadow Pact with the drow, orcs and hobgoblins. The Shadow Council, a secret council of warlocks from the Black City, used the Spellstone of Sagaria to summon the Demon Lord of the Abyss, Abaddon and corrupted the Spellstone with dark energy.
The Spellstone of Sagaria was destroyed when Rohana, broke free from her prison in the Black City and stole the Spellstone back. She channeled all of her power into the Spellstone destroying it and creating an explosion of anti-magic energy that destroyed the Black City and everyone within, including Rohana and Abaddon. The resulting explosion caused the spread of the Spelldeath and the extinction of magic for nearly a thousand years.
When the Myth'iro scholar, Gelthuin, discovered the fragments of the Spellstone at the ruins of the Black City, he returned them to Myth'thelyn and had them cleansed. The Spellstone of Sagaria was restored and housed in Myth'thelyn with the other. The Spelldeath was over and magic slowly returned to Verdun.

Significance

The Spellstone of Sagaria is responsible for Rohana's ascension as a demi-god and the major advancements during the Age of Splendor. Its destruction resulted in the Spelldeath and abandonment of magic across Verdun. Later, it's restoration reintroduced magic to the planet but at significantly weaker levels.
