Onyx
Onyx is a medium sized town located by a fairly well travelled pass in the Blackheart Mountains. Though the constant trade has made some denizens wealthy, it's also a prime pitstop for those seeking to avoid Imperial entanglements. This has lead to a very diverse city filled with people of very different socio-economic backgrounds. The noble rulers of Onyx, Reginald and Cecilia Hildebrandt, are known to be fair and equitable with every one of their citizenry regardless of their lineage.
This has lead to some disagreements with other nobles in The Dawnfire Imperium, who see the city's tolerance of non-human as a step too far. Onyx was also one of the territories to initially resist The Dawnfire Imperium's re-emergence after Skyfall, but the Hildebrant's did acquiesce before any blood was shed over the disagreement. There are some who say the noble Hildebrandt family was threatened and cowered before The Dawnfire Military, while others believe they're still working towards independence in secret. This has not worked out well for the Hildebrandts, as non-humans see them as cowards who gave in to Dawnfire threats and loyalist nobles see them as traitors or worse.
The destruction wrought in the the events of Skyfall have recently revealed ancient ruins in the areas around the city, and have caused an even greater influx of those down on their luck who seek to make their fortune. This has inevitably piqued the interest of The Amethyst Order, but so far they have only sent a few minor agents into the territory ostensibly to gauge how much (if any) magic threats could be discovered in these ruins.
