Tauran Expanse

The Tauran Expanse to the northeast is arguably one of the most dangerous places in all of Verna.
Between the extreme blizzards and bone-chilling winds, a creature of unimaginable speed flows with the storms. Some type of wyrm or drake, clear as ice and thrice as cold. A single bite is enough to inflict Permafrost on anyone brave enough to venture through the Expanse. Even those that do manage to weather the storm.. typically do not come back.
That being said, the Expanse has some of the most beautiful landscapes you'll ever see, should you be lucky enough to witness it while the storm is lifted. 
Every few years, the storm blows beyond the mountains into the northeast sea, where it regains strength and blankets the region once again. This allows for a brief viewing of the surrounding area, where you'll see tall shards of Quartz growing from the ground, each glowing in the light of the sun or moon.
