Nokþor (Noke-thor)
"The Northern Pole"
The Great North is one of the most dangerous places in the world, second only to the depths of Ve Neþ, due to a combination of the shattered landscape, the unpredictability of weather patterns, and the nature of the weather itself.

During the Day of Sundance, however, temperatures rise considerably, peaking in the low 10s of degrees below zero; lesser winds only bring windchill to the mid-20s below zero.
Magic that manifests naturally in this way is extremely volatile and affects storms in strange ways; it is in its most pure form, unfiltered and unguided through a Soul. In the pitch-darkness of the four-month night, lightning carries immense discharge of this energy, which accumulates in clouds and strikes the ground in flashes of different colors. Some call it Ice Lightning. Few who are struck by it have survived, but those who have recall an immense freezing sensation before losing consciousness, and doctor's have reported that rather than burns expected by typical lightning, Ice Lightning can leave muscles completely frozen, leaving crackling patterns similar to electrical flow in the skin, completely turned to ice.
The lightning has a much greater effect, however; it's said to damage the Soul, sending a gigantic surge of magical energy through its flow and overwhelming it, if only for a fraction of a second. At worst, it can completely tear a Soul apart.
Geography
Nokþor is comprised of hundreds of large floating islands, ranging from tens to hundreds of kilometers in size. It's notably more active than other clusters of islands, as even though the rotation is slower at the North, the islands often collide, combine, or break off.Weather
Weather in Nokþor is more erratic than anywhere else in the world; blizzards are extremely common, both above land and out over the clouds.Daylight
The "days" in Nokþor undergo significant changes as the year progresses. Just before the New Year, from early-Seþivur to early-Vinvur, the daylight gradually increases in duration, until the Suns reach their peaks in the sky, appearing to orbit eachother. From Vinvur to early-Pluvur, the Suns shine all 24 hours of the day, only starting to set midway into Aulus. This period is called the Day of Sundance. The days gradually decrease in duration until the Suns finally sink below the horizon. From Pluvur to the end of Jiniþivur, Nokþor enters a four-month night, called the Tempest Night. For a visual of the Vernelian months
Temperatures
During the Tempest Night, temperatures can dip into the high 80s of degrees below zero, and with the often strong wind that envelopes the region, these already incomprehensibly frigid temperatures can feel as cold as -130°CDuring the Day of Sundance, however, temperatures rise considerably, peaking in the low 10s of degrees below zero; lesser winds only bring windchill to the mid-20s below zero.
Magical Tempests
Magical energy is naturally occuring all across Vernelis, and it localizes in certain regions more so than others; particularly high concentrations of this energy can result in physical manifestations, affecting the weather of the area. The strongest of these manifestations, these "magical storms", are called Magical Tempests.Magic that manifests naturally in this way is extremely volatile and affects storms in strange ways; it is in its most pure form, unfiltered and unguided through a Soul.
