Worldbuilding Awards 2024

you're the best, AROOOOOOUND

Waaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaa!   Last year marked my grand(ish) return to actually writing, so I feel it's also appropriate I throw my lot in for the awards. I mean, why not, right?   The competition is definitely fierce, so even if I only make it through the 1st round, I'll count that as a victory. Seriously; Everyone on here is kinda crazy. Love ya <3   Anyhow, here's my lot for the contest:

Hearts & Minds

An article touching on intellectual, sociological, spiritual or cultural accomplishments and traditions of a people in your world

Who doesn't like bread? Mostly people with a gluten intolerance, but this is made up bread. It's impossible not to love it.   The orcs are still a weird mystery, but I hope that you can learn more about them soon; and I hope that this article detailing one of their trusted recipies for delicious magical bread gets you interested in them too.

Wonderous Nature

Your natural world in all its glory — an article describing anything from species to locations, to natural and supernatural events, and bizarre naturally-occurring materials

I'm really pleased with how Anything turned out (that's still funny), it has a nice balance between silly and serious that is difficult to work into this world, since it's mostly always played for laughs. A truly destructive material that is so unnecessarily chaotic, it couldn't possibly exist in any other setting than this one.

Strength & Honor

An article relevant to the interactions of the people of your world across a grand scale — diplomacy, war, trade and collaboration, and the people who drive and engineer them

Ah, the Great Map. This still has a very special place in my heart, being one of the very first articles I published as well as the first devised idea before I'd even created Vertinall. It helped me establish exactly what tone I wanted to have through each article, which has slowly started to shift recently, but the formula all started from this one.

Pillars of Progress

An article describing a technological or scientific (including metaphysical) accomplishment, or celebrating creations developed by the people of your world.

If 'Comfiest chair in the concievable universe' doesn't constitute an outstanding (outsitting?) accomplishment then frankly I don't want to be here. It's THE chair. WAWA Deserves The Chair.

Best Article

Pretty self-explanatory
