Crann
A Crann is a penultimate form of the Fae; they are often equivalent to a deity, and are fundamental embodiments of the world's laws and rules of nature. When thoughts and desires are mixed with faith and beliefs, it makes for a powerful creature, especially when regarding the Fae. Once a Fae's influence becomes firmly rooted in the world, it will eventually become a Crann.
Prayer aids by expediting this process; however, Crann are capable of manifesting themselves by perpetuating their nature enough. If all of the world were to cease in worship of the Dryads but the trees still remained, then the Dryad would still be capable of maintaining its power and influence so long as the trees still stand.
This is why many Crann often request their worshipers not to just pray and provide them good faith, but to act in their stead in exchange for favor.
Crann are among the most ancient form of deity found in the world of Veska, they are thus often referred to as the 'Old Gods'. Unlike many other monotheistic religions, the amount of Crann and Asura are ever-changing.
The Asura
The Asura are Yokai that have achieved exceptional power through their own exploits; often causing dangerous and devastating results. Asura are far more rare than Crann, as many Yokai are often hunted or killed off before they can spread their corrupting roots into the world. If allowed to grow and nurture their nature, however, a Yokai will eventually foster its strength and become a powerful Asura.Human Reception
Many humans regard Crann and Asura as heretical things that go against Aine and the The Faith Keepers. They are both referred to as Archdaemons that tempt mortals. Due to the Fae being associated with the Elves, the Torman are particularly disparaging of Fae worship. To this day, worship of Fae inside Mordencrast is completely outlawed. The Villish are a superstitious folk; and often associate the Fae with particularly dangerous entities such as Mr. Spindlespine. Despite this, the Villish remain aware enough to understand the function of Fae due to their wide and open frontiers being left mostly untouched outside of their vast cities. Most tolerant of all are the Vanks; Vanks and Elves have always been allied, even during the crusades, however, Vanks view all Fae beings to potentially exploit for power or use moreso than a proper thing of worship.Remove these ads.
