Rian
Rian is the engimatic Crann of revelry. While popularly associated with partying and festivals, his status as a deity worth venerating is widely debated upon even by the Fianni. Some call him an entity with trickster-like tendencies, others believe that his mischievous nature steps well beyond many boundaries in the name of 'revelry', leading to some to brand him as an Asura moreso than a traditional Crann.
Rian is one of the few Crann that take on the form of a mortal race; he is typically depicted as a charming Fianni man, with stark white fur and strikingly bright, shamrock green eyes. He has a wild mane of long hair, and is known for being beautifully androgynous in appearance.
When you're out singin' and dancin'
Acting wild, hoppin' and prancin'
Keep your eyes out for his bright green gaze,
'Else Rian will keep you partyin' for days and days,
When you're out stumped and sad,
And you've lost everything you had,
Give a shout and call 'pon Rian,
With a laugh and a smile he'll stop your cryin'.
Divine Domains
Rian is best described to outsiders as the God of the Revel; a party god venerated for bringing joy to festivities and celebration. From an outsider's perspective, this makes Rian among the most popular deities to venerate or respect, however, mischievous -- and even malice, dwells within the party god's intentions.
Lord of Madness
As a concept, Rian is difficult to grasp for mortals. Such is the case for many Crann that possess such an abstract sphere of influence; in truth, Rian is raw, visceral madness in its purest form. Whilst the revel is certainly something that can be closely associated with him, a more accurate description of Rian is being the raw, entropic force that drives people to do actions even they do not truly understand. Rian cares little about who dies or what happens under his watch, everything is drama and entertainment to him. Those worshiping Rian more closely are wholly aware of his potentially malicious behaviour and handle it in a rather unique way. While many deities are appeased through offerings, it's staggeringly common for Rian to be told these simple words."Habfois paitrea."Rian is one of the few fringe cases where worshipers are the ones directly guiding the deity by informing him of his clumsy missteps.
-'Relax, brother.' In Fianni tongue.
Holy Books & Codes
"Relax, have a drink! And don't take anything seriously."
Translated from Fianni; Rian's 'holy script' that's frequently recited both towards outsiders and his own worshipers.
Holidays
Baird Latha
Bastard's Day is a common celebration practised among not just followers of Rian, but many of the Fianni people. It's a day of wild, unbridalled revelry spent from morning to evening, and happening on the very first day of spring. The holiday is spent creating the most outlandish and chaotic festival as possible, with the sole purpose of stirring up so much raucous festivity that it draws Rian's presence into the celebration. The holiday is banned by the Elven city of Valonde, but can be found throughout many Fianni tribes; what's worse is the banning of the holiday has only further encouraged many particularly excited Fianni in bringing the celebration to the city gates with the sole intention of causing as much chaos as possible amidst the guards.Remove these ads.
