Augus
Augus, The Mad Tyrant King
Augus was born to humble beginnings, raised on the outskirts of a farming village in Astania alongside his sickly sister Juniper. They often faced animosity from many locals due to their family's mixed heritage. After what was simply another trip to buy Juniper's medicine, Augus and Juniper returned to their family's home, where they discovered an angry mob standing before a burning ruin. Enraged, Augus felt nothing but the urge to seek revenge. However, it was his sister who convinced him to leave. The pair soon fled, travelling for over a week, with Augus' sights set on the neighbouring country of Albion. Upon their arrival in Albion, Augus convinced Juniper to stay with the Church, as he felt he could not keep her safe and well.
As Augus tried to find his footing in a new land, desperation slowly began to set in, eventually leading to him joining one of the few organized criminal syndicates operating out of Albion. Augus quickly gained a distinct level of notoriety and, in some cases, even fear, as his quick use of violence as his first resort garnered more attention. After a few years, he found himself at the lethal end of his former allies' blades. A short battle ensued, with Augus standing the victor over the hit squad. With the threat to his life laid out and Augus not wishing to place Juniper in harm's way, he fled Albion, heading West. He soon met a caravan, joining them to travel through the mountains.
Augus soon reached The Caliphate of Tarut, a nation that once ruled the entirety of the West Heartland's Desert. Arriving in the city of Ignia, Augus was quickly swept up by the winds of rebellion, where Augus' tendencies served him well, allowing him to climb the ranks swiftly. Years later, the fires of the civil war had burned a new nation into the map - Ignis, ruled by none other than Augus.
Ignis quickly gained a rather sour reputation, known for its aggressive expansion and warmongering tendencies. Due to this, it was only so long before Ignis found itself wrapped up in another war, resuming its battle for conquest against The Caliphate. While Ignis succeeded in a swift and decisive campaign, the bold and aggressive nation soon found that they had garnered the attention of the other countries of The Heartlands. What started as a simple territory expansion swiftly became a large-scale war between the fierce warriors of Ignis and the combined forces of The Gethen Empire, The Court of the Griffon, and the Noble factions of Albion.
During the early years of the war, Ignis was able to make considerable ground, securing several footholds on the Southern Heartlands island while the allied forces struggled to mount any cohesive defence. That was until a Knight, dubbed The First Paladin, was able to rally the allied forces under one banner. Shortly after, the allies pushed the forces of Ignis back to the Central River; then, on the site now known as The Neutral Zone, the two sides met for what would become their final battle. It was here that Augus learned that the allied leader, the person who was able to push back his conquest, was none other than his sister Juniper. Surrounded on three sides, with the river at his back, Augus had few options but to prepare for a final stand. However, rather than receiving the force of 3 unified armies, he was met by his sister, offering a duel to end the war. Augus accepted, setting the terms to end this bloody war with one final act of violence.
The opposing armies stood still, watching their leaders battle it out over the planes. Blow after blow, the pair weakened each other until Juniper made a foolhardy charge, allowing Augus an easy blow that was sure to finish her off. However, Juniper was able to land a blow of her own, fatally wounding the Tyrant King.
Augus awoke, memories of his death still fresh within his mind, standing in The Divine Realm before the gods themselves, with his sister by his side. His actions, though not done out of virtue or kindness, led him to attain Divinity. He became known as the God of War, inheriting many of the cruel aspects of war, acting as the Yin to his sister's Yang.
Even after reaching heights far beyond that which most mortals could dream, Augus soon found that his ambitions reached even higher, as such he began to carve a path of blood through the land of the divine. Cutting down dozens of Demigods, stealing their power, all for the goal of rising to the top, taking down the Primordial Sun himself, Lumen. Many hundreds of years passed before Augus was able to accumulate enough power to challenge Lumen, where he stormed the Palace of the Divine. Augus was able to strike down the Primordial Sun, where he was able to reach out for his power. However, despite this power being at Augus' fingertips, he was unable to grasp it.
