Brotherhood of Clearview

Brotherhood of Clearview

Clearview is one of the primary sources of trade for Isura. However, its main capital Koznik has recently become free. Nevertheless, Clearview still possesses beautiful swaths of fertile fields that supply the nations of Isura with food and fine wines. They're known for their unique Moon Grape Vineyards since moon grapes can only be grown in Clearview due to their sensitivity to climate and being one of the few plants that grow at night.

Geography

Much of Clearview's boundaries are natural geographical features. The Misty Abyss Coast in the East, Mulhill Forest in the South, and the Grim Badlands in the North. On the east side border of Clearview is their neighbor The Empire of Dra-Jik. The Virilian Empire sits to the North and the newly formed Free City of Koznik borders the south. Koznik (link), Clearview's former capital and the cradle of its culture, broke free due to a civil war. The Holy State of Laeyna announced its protection. However, much to the displeasure of the Clearview people, the Treaty of Tellhound left it in the Holy State of Laeyna 's possession, causing it to become its free city-state.

Government

Clearview is run by a council of elders known as The Sanguine Council, but it is governed by a triumvirate consisting of the Lord Toldro Crimsonsky - First Warlord of Clearview, Alessandro Lockway - the Royal Minister of Magic (link), and Lady Delnaria Crimsonsky - the Second Warlord of the Realm and Commander of the Crimson Knights (link). None of the three entirely trusts the other two, and as such, they have a genteel rivalry. They do however recognize that they have shared political interests and cooperate.

Society

Clearview's people, Clarions, are a model of duality. Split between rugged, hard-working agriculturalists and learned, bookish individuals. Metropolises bustle with activity as two Crimsonsky houses owned by Toldor and Delnaria Crimonsky enclave and two learning centers draw serious business. At the same time, isolated monasteries dot the landscape where monks live in almost complete solitude, rarely venturing from their homes. Clearview's temperate climate and fertile soil make it a haven for good farmland. Clearview's wine is incredibly well known across Isura. Two great learning centers reside in Clearview, The University of Tallhallow (link) and the floating city of arcane study, Sundir. Clearview is known for its somewhat arrogant attitude. Clarions learn the results of a strong will in competition with others at a young age. That is not to say that everyone is stubborn or thick-headed, but that they will not readily concede a point they believe to be correct. Indeed public duels between classes have become a staple of Clarion society; so much that many of Clearview have adopted names for specific maneuvers and styles used in duels. Clearview is big and has a trade network throughout the nation, making it the most luxurious. Most live away from major cities in farmlands but remain connected to their local cities and towns; thus, Clearview horsemanship is second only to the elves of The Virilian Empire.

Fashion

Many of Clearview are very fashion-conscious, more so than the people of the other nations of Isura. At the peak of fashion trends are the nobles. They wear bright colors, feathered hats, long skirts, coats or cloaks, and ruffled or puffy sleeves. Unfortunately, the lower class cannot afford to keep up with the nobles. However, most own one fashionable outfit they preserve for special occasions; these outfits are often outdated by a generation or two.

Religion

The majority worship The goddess of beauty Nyssa; however, the purified of Clearview is unique, calling themselves Puritans. Puritans are far more fanatical than most other members of the Iron Hand. The reason for this is Clearview's resentment towards Dra-Jik and the Iron Hand after spending many years at war with each other.

History

Pre-Aeflir

In 231 AF the humans who had spread over to Isura formed four distinct settlements. These settlements would become the Original Four Nations of Carran (Brotherhood of Clearview), Veritas (Empire of Dra-Jik), Azmarin (Virilian Empire), and Guthram (Theocracy of Korr). Carran would expand south and west from the area around the city of the same name and eventually became the Kingdom of Clearview. In 560 AF a revolution started which overthrew the monarchy and became the Brotherhood of Clearview.

The Last War

During the last war, Clearview spent most of its time in warfare against their own people or the Empire of Dra-Jik, and the loss of Koznik to Dra-Jik bristles Clearview’s national pride to this day. During the Last War, Koznik seceded from Clearview and Dra-Jik, causing the nation to lose it’s main capital, along with one fifth of its population. The Knights Arcane bravely fought for Clearview, along with peasant militias. Clearview military tactics emphasized maneuver with light cavalry, with magical support from wands.
