Festa del Vino

A night of passionate celebration and drunken revelry, the Festa del Vino is an annual festival held in Bacanal meant to flaunt the wealth and decadence of the city.

Execution

It would be error to describe the festival as a singular celebration. While there is the main party held at the grand piaza in the heart of the city, several smaller public events are held around the city. For those of signifcant wealth and connections, there are also a number of private celebrations held in the homes of the city's more influential residents.
No matter where the party is, much remains constant: food and drink flowing freely, musicians and performers entertaining the masses, and revelers leaving much of their inhibitions at home.

Components and tools

The Festival of Wine would not be complete without its titular drink. Barrels upon barrels are brought in to fill every bar and cellar in the city, their cargo flowing freely throughout the night.
In addition to the libations, masks are also a significant part of the festival. The variety of masks worn is vast from the simple paper and cloth shrouds covering commoners' eyes to the cermaic and precious metals hiding the faces of nobles and merchants of influence.
Though some rumor that the use of masks held a secondary purpose. Namely, giving philandering individuals the cover needed for them to sneak off for clandestine rendezvous away from prying eyes.

Participants

Few in Bacanal do not particiapte in the festivities, though some play more significant roles beyond the common reveler.
The Council members play a vital part in organzing the festival, with members even presiding over the celebrations held in the grand piaza. 
Entertainers of all stripes are welcome in the city. Musicians, street performers, and more make the parties of the night come alive. Established performers such as actors and singers of reknown are often invited to give performances at private affairs for the wealthiest men and women of the city.
Vendors, while perhaps not as glamorous, play no less great a role in keeping the party going. Be it passing out wine and food or operating the gaming booths found along the street.

Observance

The festival is held during mid-October at the tail end of the harvest and shipping season with the main festivities starting at sundown.
