History
The Grand Circus was formed by an unlikely band of heroic bards from the nomadic tribes of Zeemland.
When they first adventured outside of their lands and encountered the capital of Empress Catherine I’s empire at the end of The Gecront Mountains, the various bardic and actor troupes were inspired. When they returned home and spoke of what they saw to their people, how those in distant lands would pay great sums of money for simple entertainments that they had been enjoying for free. The tribes pooled their resources together and journeyed to the capital to learn all they could about the distant cultures, modern imperial entertainment, and the arts.
The process paid off when Catherine herself came to their camp outside the city and, according to Circus history, enjoyed their entertainment so much that she granted them the title of Grand Circus. She invited them to stay in the city and run the newly built coliseum. However, being nomads at heart, the performers declined the offer. Though this saddened the empress, she still wished for them to have a title and bestowed upon them the title of Grand Circus. With the title, the troupe serves as a wandering nation of circus performers, artists, and entertainers of all sorts with the influence of a minor nation.
In the present era, other nations often visit the circus to not only enjoy its great wonders of entertainment and vast collected oddities from around the former empire and the world. The circus also serves as a neutral territory to meet and sign business or political treaties.
