The Mapmaker

In the age of exploration, an organisation was formed whose mission was to explore and record all they could about the realms that existed outside the world of Violem. They were known as the Realm Rangers. Various titles were held within the rangers, with one of the most important being, The Mapmaker. The head cartographer who had the responsibility of mapping out the universe.
"There is so much to explore, so much to see. How could we possibly be able to know where we have been and where we are going without the aid of a map."
— Leaniana the 3rd Mapmaker

The Role:

In the beginning, the role of the mapmaker was something simple. For every new realm that was discovered via portal magic, draw out a map that Portallers could use to navigate the unknown worlds. As time went on, the role became more complex. A simple mapping role soon included being head cartographer, leading a team of devoted workers. Working out and estimating new realms that have yet to be discovered and holding the key to viewing the map of the realms as a whole.   After the Rangers were disbanded and hunted by cities, being deemed too knowledgable and dangerous to the public, the role of the Mapmaker changed drastically. Now becoming a role dedicated to protecting the original map of realms and hiding it from those who would use it for evil.
