Age |
Dwarves often live beyond 400 years of age, and therefore can hold grudges just as long.
Gnomes live similarly as long, but reach maturity much younger.
Whereas a 300 year old dwarf might be ready to dig into the depths of hell, a 300 year old gnome is more attuned to a midday nap, a game of cards, and an early dinner. |

Stonecutter's Hold is the entry to the Dwarven kingdom and sits at the base of the largest mountain of Viridian, Jalo Fyldrakken. The dwarves have been digging through the mountain range for who knows how long? Not many humans have set foot within their hold, and those who have, have not travelled far, but it’s said their tunnels can reach the other side of the world. Dwarves can be short tempered and slow to trust, and their stubbornness lead other races to believe them dimwitted. Yet the dwarves knowledge of crafting, engineering, and minerals far exceed that of any other race with the exception of gnomes. The Dwarves trade with humans, but they are generally intolerant of other races, especially elves, and prefer their solitude.
The Dwarves live alongside a group of gnomes, numbers unknown, who moved into Stonecutter's Hold fearing safety amongst the constant wars between humans. Unlike the dwarves, these gnomes can be found sometimes travelling along the countryside, as they are as curious about the outside world as they are about what lies beneath it. Although the Dwarves are not exactly enthusiastic about their more frail and smaller framed companions, they do appreciate their gem cutting and engineering knowledge. Therefore, the gnomes enjoy positions of jewelers, foreman, and teachers amongst their dwarven companions.
