Highcliff

Highcliff is a village near Kot-Maerglyd. It has about a thousand residents and its primary occupations are fishing and lumber, to help provision Kot-Maerglyd. It serves as a stopping point for Maerglyd adventurers and can get first dibs on "boring" artifacts that are brought back.

Law-Speaker Pentti Greenlake Maerglyd: the current Law-Speaker from Kot-Maerglyd
Brother Erkki: cleric of the Queen of Life. (Male human, tall, bald, blue robes with gold trim. Softspoken.)
Mistress Ilna: keeper of the "Hearth and Home" inn. (Female human, plump, smiling, red-cheeked, nosy.)
Golden Kore: runs the general store. (Male halfling, soft/pudgy, avaricious, always looking to make a deal.)

Demographics

About half human, a quarter half-elvish, and a smattering of other races. Most are working class.

Government

The village is overseen by a mage from Kot-Maerglyd, known as the Law-Speaker. His word is law, but if the villagers believe he is abusing power, they have the right to request a different Law-Speaker from Kot-Maerglyd.

Geography

Highcliff sits at the top of a high, sheer cliff. At the base of the cliff runs a small, icy river. An evergreen forest stretches around the town as far as the eye can see.
