Wanderers Guild
Centuries ago, a group of field explorers created their own guild to share stories, notes, and maps from their adventures, and offer their services as guides. From there, the Wanderers Guild has expanded in scope to cover most of Vodari, with the ultimate goal of exploring the entirety of the world and recording that information for posterity.
Guild members can apply for guide job postings and access vast stores of knowledge, in exchange for sharing their own. A Wanderer’s Refuge can be found in any major port, where you can hire a guide or buy maps or information for nearly any destination.
Structure
No individual controls the Wanderers Guild, as it was created to be a place where information and knowledge could be shared freely. However, retired adventurers and explorers often take postings at refuges belonging to the guild, there serving as administrative staff.
Culture
The Wanderers Guild naturally encourages exploration, not caring much for the motives behind a particular expedition so long as it results in an increase in understanding about the world. They welcome those seeking glory, wealth, fame, or knowledge for its own sake.
Public Agenda
The ultimate goal of the Wanderers Guild is to explore the world and record everything about it for generations to come. To do this, it supports its own explorers with funding and resources and trades for information with independent adventurers.
Assets
The Guild primarily funds its operations by connecting individuals with needed services; hunters can hire wilderness guides, sailors can purchase maps, and scholars can peruse the writings of previous Wanderers. The purpose of this isn't to make a profit, but simply to keep each Refuge afloat and fund expeditions to unexplored areas. As such, each Refuge has its own funds, meaning that those located in busier areas are likely to have larger buildings and more staff.
