The Mirrors of Tharaza'd
Long before the time of the great storms, three Mirrors where created by three Great Fey Sorcerers it is said that their magics are tied directly the energies that ebb and flow on Voltera. The mirrors acted both as cyclical calender's but also as magical portals tied to various locations in Voltera that Magical Portals would manifest.
These Great Sorcerers through painstaking centuries of study unlocked the cyclical secrets of Voltera's Moons, Constellations and developed a calendar that indicated when certain Portals would open in certain locations in the world. They transcribed these calendars into the Frames of these three Mirrors using Powerful lost Ritual magics and Rune Inscription. The Mirrors not only allowed their users to gaze through the mirrors into the locations of these portals but at the Apex allowed one to step through the mirror and then emerge through the portal at the different Geographical location on Voltera.
It is said that in the beginning the Three Sorcerers kept these mirrors secret from the rest of the world and used them sparingly to further their research and to get them out and about in the world of Voltera to further their studies. One of the Three Sorcerers further developed His Mirror and managed to enchant a keystone so that allowed him to unlock any Portal linked by the Calendar in the mirrors at any time. The two Other sorcerers learned of the powers of the keystone and became Jealous and demanded that the one share the secrets of the Keystone with them all but he would not. Thus began the unraveling of the secret the three had once kept. The two other sorcerers conspired together to acquire the knowledge of the Mirror Keystone and tried various methods to acquire the knowledge from the one. At first its was through simple act's of persuasion by one or the other it soon turned into gifts. The one never shared the Secrets of the keystone with the other Sorcerers and he Kept his mirror of Tharaza'd well hidden within his tower guarded by Magics and Magical Beasts who would not reveal his deep secret. He became secretive and secluded and rarely ventured out.
The Jealously and Envy of the Other two Sorcerers began to grow they felt cheated by their once friend and colleague. Their attempts to acquire the secrets of his keystone started to lead to attempts at subterfuge. They made attempts with hired thieves, and spies but all these attempts where thwarted which only angered the one Sorcerer he began to develop a personal Army now to guard the lands around his Tower and Now Castle.
The Two Began to use their Mirrors more to Travel to Various regions of Voltera in hopes of unlocking the One's secret that way they Struck up alliances with other Races, Lords and Kings throughout Voltera which not only made the Two Sorcerers more powerful and influential but also leaked out the secret of the Mirrors of Tharaza'd they had in their own possession. They Conspired to take the third Mirror by force...
The Two Sorcerers Revealed their Mirrors to a Duke and a King who had elite soldiers and they planned to deploy these forces through portals that opened just short marches from the one's castle and waited in secret till the time was right. The Sorcerers marched to the One's Castle, a battle raged first in open land with the two Sorcerers being victorious as the One retreated to his Castle that soon fell under siege. The One's Castle Fell within a month. Unbeknownst to the Two Sorcerers during this time The Duke and the King Conspired and successfully secreted the Mirror's of Tharaza'd belonging to them.
The Two Sorcerers Seizing their victory at the siege fought in a great battle of Magics against the one defeating him at the Doors of the Vault leading to the Third Mirror of Tharaza'd. Their battle though won came at a great cost. They worked tirelessly to unlock the secrets of the Keystone for this mirror and now had to fight to regain their own mirrors. They tried to even replicate more mirrors but where not successful. Their attempts to Recover the Mirrors Plunged the plunged the World of Voltera into nearly two hundred years of conflict, treachery, war and chaos. Much of this history has been lost in the Great Storms that soon followed and only fragments remain.
What ever came of the Mirrors of Tharaza'd and the Three Sorcerers is only spoken of in Tall tales, and Legends or passed down Songs. It is rumored that they still exist and rumors or stories of them being found pop up form time to time but can never really be validated.
