Located in the far northern reaches of Lyonne, the Barony of Boreotis is the furthest northern location in all of Cassel. It is bordered by the Vertika River and the kingdom of Rinea to the North, by the Nekora River and the Barony of Gelum to the West, by the Voltaic Sea to the East, and by the Barony of Terminus to the South.

The land is relatively flat and treeless, except along the rivers, which is also where most of the towns are located. While the climate is considered oceanic, it does snow here more often than other coastal baronies. There isn't much in the way of economic activity here. There are mainly rye fields and some cattle ranches.

Boreotis, along with the Barony of Gelum and the Barony of Nivalis, form what is known as the Northern Marches, a buffered land area between the Elf-Kingdom of Lyonne and the human Kingdom of Rinea. Border skirmishes are somewhat common, and Boreotis has the unfortunate luck of being open to sea invasions as well.
