Stick Explosive

Dynamite, usually called a Stick Explosive on Vreathe, is one of the few entirely non-magical explosives known on this world. It is a high explosive device made of nitroglycerin and ground seashells wrapped in wax paper. A long cotton fuse is connected to a blasting cap and comes out of the end with roughly a ten second burn time.

Once lit, it is highly recommended you throw the stick explosive as quickly and as hard as you can, because this is definitely not the intended use for it. These explosives were developed in the year 2847 I.A. for blasting away rock and stone, not throwing in the middle of a battle. Still, for those that can't cast magic or are not very powerful with fire magic, this is a very effective weapon, if it is used right.

In addition, the nitroglycerin within the stick explosive is not that stable and can ignite with enough force. Throwing it is often enough to trigger an explosion once it slams against a hard enough object, especially if it is charged with a small amount of magic before throwing, which will decrease the nitroglycerin's stability. If too much mana is used it will actually increase the stability of the compound and might not even explode if the fuse and blasting cap is used.

Similar to other pieces of advanced technology, the inventor of stick explosives on Vreathe was killed by Orcs, this time in 2850, Iron Age. Orcs put effort into trying to prevent technology from advancing past a certain level, to prevent a second Cataclysm like what happened at the end of the Silver Age. This case is one of the times they failed.

"I'm okay with buying more stick explosives, but we seriously need to keep these things away from Myles!

He tried tying one to an arrow and the results were about what you'd expect! The giant explosion the arrows created were the least of our worries when that happened..."
