Elf

Once arguably the premier sapient species on Vuria and the only one to have come close to establishing a world-encompassing culture, after two major schisms and a long, bloody civil war, the Elves of Vuria merely a shadow of their former selves. Like the elves of other planes, the elves of Vuria can trace their ancestry back to the Fey as evidenced by their innate adeptness at the arcane arts, almost otherworldly features, and lack of the need for sleep.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves are on average, taller than humans, thinner, and have pointed ears. Their facial features appear symmetrical, almost uncannily so.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elves tend to age very slowly over their long lifespans and while elves typically reach physical maturity around 20 years, most elves consider themselves "adults" at 100. Elves considered "elderly" by the time they reach 650 years of age with some elves living as old as 750 years.

Ecology and Habitats

Elves tend to prefer forests and climates with a large amount of natural vegetation. Even the High Elves tend to incorporate large amounts of flora in their elegant cities.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Elves generally favor largely, if not wholly, vegetarian diets. A High Elf might typically eat one meal every week or so featuring a small portion of meat, while a Wood Elf would generally attempt to avoid it all together.
Due to the typical climates that the Dark Elves chose to resign, fish and elk are common staples of their diets as large quantities of vegetables are difficult to sustain during the long, harsh winter months of the taiga.

Facial characteristics

Elves have fine, graceful facial features and long, pointed ears. The typically have very little facial hair. The head hair is commonly long and luxuriant with colors ranging from platinum blonde to orche brown, and raven black, with naturally occurring blue, violet or metallic colours such as copper or gold being uncommon but not unheard of. Elves eyes come in a wide range of colours from blue to green to hazel to gold, silver, or violet.

Elves' skin tone can vary, ranging from an almost ghostly pale to a tawny beige, russet reddish-brown, or rich umbra black. In very rare cases, some individuals may have a pale green tint to their skin tone or an iridescent mother-of-pearl skin tone. Such individuals are often to be believed to possess great potential and often have formidable, innate magic talents.
