Half-Elf
Half-elves, as usually defined, are born through the union of an Elf and a Human. Half-Elves walk between two worlds, but truly belong to neither. Whether raised in human communities or among elves (who often think they look like humans,) their unique traits often mark them as outsiders from an early age. They often disproportionately represented among adventurers as a result.
Basic Information
Biological Traits
Half-elf skin, hair, and eye colors vary, and may favor one parent over the other or simply be a mix of the two. There have been no records of a half-elf being born with the greenish or pearlescent skin tones that elves view as extraordinarily gifted. Half-elves have subtly pointed ears and are typically a little stockier than most elves. Unlike full-blooded elves, half-elves can grow facial and body hair.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Half-elves are commonly found in regions where elven and human societies meet, such as parts of Northern Lamera, Zhathair Isles, and Ballardan.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Half-elves may take human or elven names depending upon the culture they are raised in and what their parents have named them.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Half-elves speak Trade Common and Elvish. Many who are raised among humans also take the regional language most commonly spoken there.
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Half-elves have no discernible culture of their own, but find themselves apt at traversing through both worlds they may often feel themselves living in.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
More prejudiced human societies (such as Ballardan) may view half-elves as being too elvish and vice versa. This isn't the norm for half-elves by any measure and most places welcome half-elves freely.
