Isobel Mar
Owner of the Riverwatch Inn
Member of the The Merchant's Guild
An elderly woman who owned the Riverwatch Inn, to the south of Celeb. The party first encountered her when travelling to the swamp on a quest to find the legendary (cursed) crown of Alin. She seemed to take a disconcerting interest in Farren the Reputable. While the party stayed at the Riverwatch inn, Zed snuck into her private room, which was less than secure, and opened her safe. Within it, he found a small bag, a necklace, a smooth stone, and a number of log books with detailed (and oftentimes colourful) accounts of her various patrons. He found mention of a group matching the description of Donnie's scouts (who had gone missing), with a scathing comment about their refusal to tip. Having been warned by Farren that she was returning, Zed panicked, took the stone and the bag, and fled the room. It was discovered later that Isobel Mar had connections to the Merchant's Guild and that the bag was filled with nearly 2000 gold pieces. Through the stone, which turned out to be a sending stone, Zed received a message from an unknown man in the Merchant's Guild, warning him that they would be coming to collect their coin with interest. Zed proceeded to chuck this stone into the swamp.
Upon the party's return, Zed returned the gold to Isobel Mar. Farren attempted to smooth things over with her and the merchant's guild by promising to return with their airship to build a mutually profitable business relationship.
Having detoured first to Port, then Reveer then New Port (where they attacked a smuggler's vessel and stole a lot of lianyte) before returning to Isobel Mar, the party was met with an offer for 50000 GP to purchase their ship. Upon refusing, the party sensed that the woman was attempting to strong arm them into the deal. Isobel Mar was killed by Zed's fireball.
It was later discovered that she was the mother of @Witt Mar, the leader of the Merchant's Guild.
