Temple of the Child
Turning from the library and heading down the other wing, you can see tall stained glass windows lining the wide hallway. Fractured coloured light falls haphazardly on the floor until quite suddenly the way narrows and darkens. There is a stairway spiraling downwards at the end, and three sets of doors lining the wall on either side of the hallway. At the bottom of the spiral staircase is the Fog, where the living do not tread. If you listen, you can hear many voices singing below.
The Temple of the Child was the only one of it's kind. Located Celeb's Ring of Stars, it was center of worship for the Child.
It was located just south of the Lord's Palace, and to the south west of the Halls of Justice. It was layed out in the shape of a V, with the downward point being the main entrance. The NE wing housed the library. The library was mostly tended to by Acolytes of the Child, though there were other government employees working within as well. The NW wing housed the stairway to the Fog, the chapel, the dining halls, and the bedchambers of the Acolytes and the orphans they raised within the temple.
The chapel was itself the long hallway with it's brightly coloured stain glass windows on either side. The acolytes would often, seemingly at random, hold festivities in the hallway. There were no statues in the hallway, no altars, no books, just a wide, colourfully lit hallway.
The far end of the hallway was different; it was narrower and darker, as the walls divided other rooms and thus had no grand windows. On one side, were the rooms used by the orphaned children that fell into the care of the acolytes. On the other side, were rooms shared by the acolytes themselves.
At the very end of this corridor, was spirallying staircase to the foggy basement below. It was said that no one ever emerged from that basement. The Acolytes were said to bring their dead there, or the masks of their dead at least. Singing could always be heard by the staircase.
