The Company of the Bright Flame *defunct*
Following the defeat of the Worldhopper and the death of Cravyre, fiends and monsters of all sorts were left to wreak havoc on the world. Among them were threats ranging from the shadelings to the first of the Vampyre Lords to Andichar the fiend.
According to legend, when Andichar allied himself with the Coven, Igwial, who was high priest of Luin, reached out to the Aliri Hunters who were already well trained hunters, though mostly of undead. In order to deal with the growing fiend threat, they formed what would become the Company of the Bright Flame.
Over the last two millennia, the company endured many changes in leadership and the waxing and waning of it’s member count, but their core tenets remained the same. They were legendary monster hunters. They existed to cleanse the world of fiends, undead, and all manner of monstrous beasts, to protect the common folk, and to foil the plots of the coven.
After heavy losses, without reliable leadership or adequate funding, the company officially disbanded in 2442. Any remaining members went their separate ways. Some continued in their endeavours. The legend of the company remains in many people's memory, but the company itself is no more.
In 2443 a fire destroyed much of the knowledge stored in the old headquarters in Manashade.
